Criminal Defense

The attorneys at Brown Education Law Group specialize in criminal defense in state and federal courts. We recognize that our clients come to us in what is likely the most difficult situation they have faced. Accordingly, we work tirelessly to provide a custom-tailored and vigorous defense. In our representation of the accused, we zealously defend against the charges and work closely with our clients to reach the most favorable outcome. Our firm is large enough to handle any criminal case at any level, yet small enough to provide one-on-one attention. Knowing that every criminal accusation has profound effects on the accused, no effort is spared to protect our clients’ rights and to do what is best for each individual client in each case.

We are trial lawyers with extensive experience trying criminal cases in state and federal court. Our attorneys have successfully tried cases involving the following charges:

  • Sex Offenses
  • White Collar Crimes
  • Juvenile Offenses
  • Grand Jury Investigations
  • Robbery and Burglary
  • Child Abuse
  • Drug Possession and Distribution
  • Colorado Organized Crime Act (COCCA)
  • Conspiracy
  • Homicide
  • Money Laundering
  • Domestic Violence
  • Health Care Fraud
  • Motor Vehicle Theft
  • Protection Orders

Being charged with a crime can be a life-changing event. Often, the first thing that happens is a warrant is issued for your arrest, which can result in time spent in jail at the outset of the case. In state court, you will most likely be eligible for bail, which is an amount of money paid to the court that allows you to remain in the community while your case is pending. In federal court, a magistrate judge will decide if you will be detained pending trial or released to pretrial services. Thereafter, you will be charged by one of several means – usually by way of Indictment or Complaint, and you may be entitled to a preliminary hearing. Once you enter a plea of not guilty, the state has a certain amount of time (known as Speedy Trial) to either try or otherwise resolve your case. Many different factors impact that timeline, and cases may take many months or even years to resolve. Of course, there are many steps along the way that may impact the outcome of your case. Having a seasoned criminal defense attorney by your side may make the difference between your case being a bump in the road versus a significantly life-altering event.

As seasoned negotiators and trial attorneys, we know there is no one-size-fits-all solution to successfully defending a criminal case. Every case needs individualized attention and a custom-tailored approach. With that, we begin each case by getting to know you, your story, and your goals. We also:

  • Provide a detailed explanation of the criminal justice process so you know what to expect.
  • Communicate honestly and transparently about potential and likely outcomes and the factors that weigh into each one.
  • Explain strategic decisions and alternatives so that you understand and can participate in your own defense.
  • Zealously advocate for your best outcome no matter the audience – the prosecution, a jury, or the court.

At Brown Education Law Group, we work tirelessly to defend you in order to protect and preserve the life you’ve worked tirelessly to build. Our experience informs our process, and we’ll take whatever steps are necessary to achieve the most favorable outcome.
